WILDCATS SCORE 3 DECISIVE WINS

          MOUNDRIDGE – Still unbeaten two weeks into the 2025/26 season, the Moundridge boys stormed through their three games of the Moundridge tournament last week winning all three by a margin of 42 points!

 

          After dismantling Lyons on Tuesday, 75-34, the Wildcats came back on Thursday and handed Hillsboro a humbling 69-29 loss before closing out the week on Friday with a 62-18 demolition of county rival Inman.

 

          Now 5-0 for the season, the Wildcats will tangle with Little River on Tuesday and Sedgwick on Friday before taking the Christmas break.

 

          Here is a summary of the three games the Wildcats won last week:

 

TUESDAY, DEC. 9 – vs. Lyons in Moundridge Tournament

          The Wildcats began the week with Lyons where they jumped out to a seven-point, 17-10 lead by the end of the first quarter before pouring 23 points on the scoreboard in the second quarter to hold a commanding, 20-point, 40-20, advantage going into the halftime break.

 

          After pushing the lead to 69-30 at the end of three quarter, Moundridge cruised in for the final 75-34 victory.

 

          Easton Shahan connected on six three-pointers in leading the Wildcats offense with 24 points while Heath Churchill scored 18, Jesse Lutz put 12 in the scorebook and Layton Schmidt slipped into double digits with 10.

SCORING = Wildcats won 75-34.

Wildcats = 17-23-29-6 = 75; Lyons = 10-10-10-4 = 34.

WILDCAT INDIVIDUAL STAT LEADERS =

Scoring (75) = Easton Shahan – 24; Heath Churchill – 18; Jesse Lutz – 12; Layton Schmidt – 10; Kaizer Kanitz – 5; Ray Kaufman, Kaden Godwin, Tramaine Wilson – 2.

3-Pointers Made (11) = Shahan – 6; Churchill, Lutz – 2; Kanitz – 1.

 

THURSDAY, DEC. 11 – vs. Hillsboro in Moundridge Tournament

          The Wildcats humbled Hillsboro on Thursday with a 40-point, 69-29, win that began with a 23-point first quarter followed by 14 points to hold a commanding 37-21 lead at the halftime break.

         

Moundridge came out of the break and scored 23 points while holding Hillsboro to just three before letting up on the gas a bit and settling for the final 40-point victory.

         

          Jesse Lutz hit six of the teams 13 three-pointers on his way to being the leading scorer with 20 while both Easton Shahan and Kaizer Kanitz scored 13.

SCORING = Wildcats won 69-29

Wildcats = 23-14-23-9 = 69; Hillsboro = 10-11-3-5 = 29.

WILDCAT INDIVIDUAL STAT LEADERS =

Scoring = Jesse Lutz – 20; Easton Shahan, Kaizer Kanitz – 13; Heath Churchill – 7; Fynn Burge – 5; Ray Kaufman – 4; Josh Koehn – 3; Cade Schmidt, Layton Schmidt – 2.

3-Pointers Made (13) – Lutz – 6; Shahan – 3; Kanitz, Churchill, Burge, Koehn – 1.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 12 – vs. Inman in Moundridge Tournament

          The Wildcats proved to be too much for county rival Inman on Friday as they scored a 62-18 win over the Teutons.

         

          Both teams struggled in the first quartet as the Wildcats led 8-0 before putting 21 points on the board in quarter while holding Inman to just one point, giving Moundridge a dominating 29-1 halftime  lead. After the break, the Wildcats simply continued to pull away scoring another 33 points over the final two quarters and holding the Teutons to just 17 for the final 44-point victory.

 

          Jesse Lutz used four three-pointers to lead the Wildcats in scoring with 12. Easton Shahan and Kaizer Kanitz each chipped in with 10.

SCORING = Wildcats won 62-18.

Wildcats = 8-21-21-12 = 62; Inman = 0-1-7-10 = 18.

WILDCAT INDIVIDUAL STAT LEADERS:

Scoring = Jesse Lutz – 12; Easton Shahan, Kaizer Kanitz – 10; Ray Kaufman – 9; Heath Churchill – 8; Fynn Burge – 7; Layton Schmidt, Josh Koehn – 3.
