MOUNDRIDGE NOW 3-2 WITH 35-12 WIN OVER TRINITY

By Staff

Going on the road last Friday, the Moundridge football team bounced back well from a loss by pounding Hutchinson Trinity with a ground game and score a 35-12 victory.

Only two scores came in the first half, one by each team, so Moundridge, thanks to a Tione Wilson scoring run, went into the halftime break tied at 6-6.

Then came the third quarter, where the Wildcats scored three times, once on a pass from Alex Rose to Josh Koehn, plus two more runs for the end zone by Wilson. Wilson added a score in the fourth quarter, giving Moundridge the final 35-12 victory.

Wilson led the stat sheet, running the ball 25 times and breaking loose for 275 yards. Rose threw for another 95.

On defense, Logan Greenwalt led the Wildcats with six tackles, and Wilson, Atley Lichti, and Cade Schmidt each recorded five.

In his closing reflections on the game, Wildcat head coach Tyler O’Connor noted, “Tione (Wilson) had a big night on the run game, and our offensive line paved the way. The run game allowed us to control the tempo of the game, which ended up being the difference.”

Now 3-2 for the season, Moundridge will be on the road on Friday at Hillsboro. The Trojans lost last week to Inman 21-0 and enter the game 2-3.
