The Inman football program made a statement in their season opener, going on the road and dominating Sedgwick 71-0.
It was a statement that they were playing to settle some unfinished business from last season after falling short in the playoffs to rival Moundridge and then recommitted to consistency in their play.
After scoring 30 points in the first quarter and adding 27 in the second, Inman cruised in with a touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters in scoring the 71-0 victory.
After Malachi Brunk and Braxton Malloy scored on runs of 51 and 35 yards, Brunk followed up with a pair of touchdown passes to Cayden Gaeddert and Korbyn McClellan to earn the 30-point first-quarter lead.
Malloy ran for a pair of scored and Jayce Jennings rambled in for another to go with a long scoring pass and catch from Brunk to McClellan to give the Teutons a commanding 57-0 advantage at the halftime break.
Brunk and Jasper Jones added short scoring runs in the third and fourth quarters to get Inman to the final 71-0 win.
Despite running 53 plays, Sedgwick was held in check by the Teuton defense, gaining just 133 yards total and turning the ball over three times.
Offensively, the Teutons rolled up 479 yards on 32 plays, including 280 from the ground game.
Brunk just missed a 200-yard passing day while Malloy ran for 162 yards on just eight carries. McClellan covered 137 yards on just two pass receptions, and Gaeddert led the defense with seven tackles.
NEXT UP for the home-field opener for the Teutons as they tangle with Marion on Friday, September 11, before traveling to defending state champion Sterling on Friday, September 18.
