KEEPING QUALITY CARE LOCAL!!
Early voting has begun in McPherson County for a SPECIAL ELECTION on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, which will decide on the continuation of a half-cent sales tax for healthcare county-wide!!
This tax benefits McPherson Center for Health, Lindsborg Community Hospital, and Mercy Hospital in Moundridge to help continue providing essential funding for services and infrastructure improvements.
The 10-year sales tax has been in place since 2015, helping the hospitals add important services, upgrade technology, improve patient care, and weather any global pandemic.
A ‘YES’ vote will extend the tax for an additional 10 years, meaning the current tax rate will not change.
Seventy-percent of the tax will go to benefit McPherson Center for Health, while Lindsborg Community Hospital, and Mercy Hospital in Moundridge each will receive 15%.

“When immediate care needs arise, you really can not put a value on how much it means to have three excellent healthcare facilities within McPherson County,” said Aaron Herbel, Administrator and CFO of Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.
The continued support through the sales tax will enable McPherson County’s hospitals to maintain this critical emergent care, while expanding services and technology, which strengthens the community’s overall well-being and preparedness for any health challenges that may arise.

Larry Van Der Wege, Administrator of Lindsborg Community Hospital, explains, “Investing in healthcare is investing in our county’s future. Our residents have the best care right at their doorstep, and it makes McPherson County a more attractive place for new families and businesses.”
Continuing the sales tax will mean the three hospitals can continue to:
Ø Expand medical services and specialties available to the community, reducing the need for long-distance traveling.
Ø Maintain readily accessible emergency care.
Ø Invest in advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Ø Offer personalized, high-quality patient experiences.
Ø Strengthen the readiness for any future public health emergencies.
The SPECIAL ELECTION is an opportunity for residents to have a direct say in the future of their healthcare infrastructure and the quality of care that will be available within their own communities and county.
“Every vote for this sales tax is a choice to further exceptional healthcare capabilities within McPherson County,” says Tanner Wealand, CFO/Interim CEO at McPherson Center for Health. “This is a powerful way to continue supporting the hospital services you trust, without raising tax rates.”
