LOCAL HOSPITAL EARNS 5-STAR RATING

MCPHERSON CENTER FOR HEALTH EARNS HIGH STANDARD

         MCPHERSON – This past week the McPherson Center for Health was awarded a 5-star rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which places them among the top-performing hospitals in the nation for quality of care and the ONLY facility within a 60-mile radius to hold this national recognition.

         The recognition reflects excellence across five key areas of performance: mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, plus timely and effective care. All of these areas are evaluated through rigorous national standards.

         For a rural hospital such as the one in McPherson, a 5-star rating represents more than just numbers, it speaks to the value of having high-quality care right here at home, without the extra burden of travel or long waiting times.

         This achievement also means that residents of McPherson and surrounding communities have access to nationally recognized care that is delivered by people they trust and see in their everyday lives.

         Over the past year, McPherson Hospital has made strategic investments to enhance care and expand services, including:

Ø The addition of tele-stroke technology in our Emergency Department, which improves stroke response times and outcomes.

Ø Offering stereotactic breast biopsy services, so patients will no longer have to travel out of town for advanced diagnostics.

Ø Welcoming new providers to our clinic to improve access and continuity of care.

Ø Strengthening partnerships with local organizations to support health and wellness throughout the community.

Ø Our Women’s Care and Birth Center holds the gold standard for Kansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative.

A significant part of the 5-star rating also comes from patients themselves, through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The scores from this survey reflect real experiences with communication, cleanliness, care, and respect, areas where McPherson Center for Health consistently ranks high.
