LITTLE RIVER SPIKERS ROLL TO 2 WINS

LITTLE RIVER – The defending state champion Little River volleyball team continued to their dominance of the new season on Tuesday with a pair of dominating wins at home over Wakefield and Solomon.

Now 5-0 on the season, the Lady Redskins made quick work of Wakefield by winning in straight sets, 25-7 and 25-10.

Ashley Stephenson led the team in Digs with five while making seven kills along with Havana Olander. Kate Ellwood and Evie Look dished out 25 of the Lady Redskins 31 assists while Ellwood had a pair of service aces as well.

It was a true team effort by the Lady Redskins with the victory over Wakefield as 10 girls made digs, seven recorded at least on kill and three others scored a service ace.

Against Solomon, Little River dominated the first set, winning 25-13, before Solomon gave them a challenge in the second set before the Lady Redskins pulled out the 26-24 win and match victory.

Kate Ellwood again directed much of the offense attack by knocking out 18 of the team’s 27 assists.

Adelynne Strecker made 11 digs, Aubrey Olander recorded nine kills and Havana Olander made three blocks to led the team on the stat lines.

Looking to stay unbeaten, the Little River spikers will be back in action on Saturday, September 9 at the Centre Invitational.
