LADY REDSKINS MAKE STATE SEMI-FINALS

            DODGE CITY – Another step closer for the Little River girls, a step closer to a state championship with their decisive 49-point, 76-27, win over Colony Crest in their opening game of the Class 1A Division State Tournament in Dodge City on Wednesday.

 

            Now 22-0 for the season, the Lady Redskins will battle fifth-seed Quinter (21-3) on Friday in the state semi-finals on Friday. Quinter scored a 65-54 win over fourth-seed Montezuma/South Gray in their quarter final game. On the other side of the state bracket, second-seeded Centralia stayed unbeaten at 24-0 with a 50-27 win over St. John/Hudson and will tangle with third-seed Troy (22-1) who earned a 33-25 win over Claflin/Central Plains.

            Little River jumped all over the Lady Lancers with a 19-6 lead by the end of the first quarter which they then extended to a 29-point, 46-17, advantage heading into the halftime break. The Lady Redskins came out and added 15 additional points in the scorebook for both the third and fourth quarters while holding Colony Crest to just 10, giving Little River the final 49-point victory.

 

            It helps that the Lady Redskins connected on 58% of their two-point shots while outrebounding the Lady Lancers 38-20 and forcing them into 33 turnovers.

 

            Havana Olander had a game high 16 points as four Lady Redskins reached double digits, including Saelyn Raleigh and Avery Lafferty with 12 points each and Adelynne Strecker scoring 10.

 

            Both Strecker and Arika Feldman dished out four assists with Lafferty getting a team high eight rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end of the game. Strecker also topped the team in steals with five.
