Smith, Birdsong, Stansbury, Ewertt Lead Team to Win

LITTLE RIVER – Despite it not being the best performance of the season, Little River managed to score a 22-point, 46-24-win hosting Oxford in their first round of the 8-Man Division I playoffs.

Now 7-2 on the season, the Redskins will travel to Howard to tangle with Howard/West Elk o Friday. Howard/West Elk is 8-1 on the season after beating Burlingame 46-22.

Little River and Oxford traded scores in both the first and second quarters leaving the Redskins with a slim 16-12 lead heading into the halftime break.

After both scoring again in the third, Little River took a four-point, 22-18 advantage into the final quarter where they scored three more touchdowns to get the final 22-point margin win.

Andrew Smith was much of the offense for Little River as he ran the ball 27 times for 194 yards and five touchdowns while completing just one-of-five passes for ten yards and another touchdown. Carter Stansbury rambled 81 yards on 16 carries and Logan Schubert was the recipient of the touchdown pass.

Ruxton Birdsong, Jhet Ewertt and Carter Stansbury led the defense with ten, eight and six tackles respectively.
