LADY VIKINGS SPLIT WITH PRATT & HESSTON

LINDSBORG – In the final full week of the regular season, the Smoky Valley girls went on the road to beat Pratt, 55-32, on Tuesday before having a six-game win streak snapped at home with a loss to Hesston, 35-44.

 

Now 13-6 on the season, the Lady Vikings conclude the regular season on Tuesday hosting Halstead before prepping for their Class 3A sub-state tournament begins on Monday, February 26 hosted by Southeast of Saline in Gypsum. Other teams in the sub-state include Burlington, Council Grove, Halstead, Hesston, Osage City and Santa Fe Trail.

SMOKY VALLEY LADY VIKINGS at Pratt on Tuesday

 

Against Pratt on the road Tuesday, the Lady Vikings went up 14-6 by the end of the first quarter and held a commanding 34-12 advantage at the halftime break. Coming out of the intermission Smoky Valley continued to roll, outscoring Pratt 21-20 in the final two quarters to get the final 23-point, 55-32 victory.

 

Adrian Hazelwood led the Lady Vikings in scoring with 21, assists with seven, steals with five and blocked shots with four. Katja Blanchat joined her in double digits with 13 points while Tinley Scott just missed a double double with nine points and a team high 10 rebounds.

SMOKY VALLEY LADY VIKINGS at Hesston on Friday

 

In their final road game of the regular season, the Lady Vikings got bested in the final eight minutes in their nine-point loss to Hesston, 35-44.

 

Smoky Valley led by a pair, 13-11 at the end of the first quarter but lost the lead and trailed 20-23 at the halftime break.

 

With the game tied at 29-29 at the end of the third quarter, Hesston outscored the Lady Vikings 15-6 in the final eight minutes to hand them the final nine-point loss.

 

Hesston dominated the boards, out rebounding Smoky Valley 37-23, including a 5-14 edge on offensive boards.

 

Tinley Scott led the Lady Vikings scoring with 10 while Adrian Hazelwood finished with nine.
