JUNIOR LADY PUP SPIKERS SWEEP 4 AT ARK CITY

On Friday, the McPherson Middle School Lady Pup eighth and seventh grade volleyball teams opened their 2026 season with home wins over Arkansas City.
8th GRADE VOLLEYBALL:
For the 8th grade ‘A’ team, they scored a two-match sweep, 25-15 and 25-9, over Ark City.
According to head coach Christine Pianalto, “The girls battled a few unforced errors in the first set but were then able to become more consistent with serving and hitting in the second set. Our team looks forward to growing and developing as we see more competition.”
Hayde Allen with her passing and net play from middle hitter Cali Melton led the team to the wins. Cayson Harlin and Hayden Vogelsberg provided a lot of pressure from the service line.
The 8th grade ‘B’ team also scored a clean sweep over Ark City, winning the first set 25-6 before closing out the day with a 35-13 win in set two.
According to coach Brittany Baum, the whole team demonstrated strong communication and an upbeat attitude. Auri Perryman had an exceptional serving night while the setters were able to support all hitters for hits/kills at the net.
Next up for the 8th-grade Lady Pups will be on Monday, August 31 at Circle for a triangular with Circle and Haysville West..
7th GRADE VOLLEYBALL:
Both the seventh-grade ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams found straight-set wins at home over Ark City as well on Friday.
In the 7th grade ‘A’ team 25-3, 25-18 sweep, the Lady Pups started off scoring the 22 straight points from Ella Riemann’s serves.
Head coach Ally Lusk explained, “The girls worked well together and battled back from being down in the second set. We had many girls do great things, including some great net plays by our front row. We will continue to work and grow as a team at practices.”
It was a dominating two-game sweep of Ark City by the 7th-grade ‘B’ team with wins of 25-10 and 25-9 where the team came out focused and were ready to play. They showed great communication and hustle.
The 7th grade Lady Pups will be back at home on Monday, August 31, with a triangular involving Haysville West and Circle.
