JUNIOR LADY PUP 7th-GRADE SPIKERS GO 1-1 ON TUESDAY

MCPHERSON – On Tuesday, the McPherson Middle School 7th-grade volleyball teams hosting Haysville/Campus and split a pair of matches.


In the ‘A’ team match, the Junior Lady Pups 7th-graders earned a straight set win, 25-23 and 25-16. This gives the ‘A’ team a 3-2 mark for the season.


“We came out aggressive at the service line and at the net both,” noted head coach Destiny Espinoza in her post match reflections. “We had a couple of good rallies, and we did well in serve receive. We are excited to add another win to our record.”


The ‘B’ team did not have much good fortune as they fought hard and battled to the end before losing in straight sets to Haysville/Campus, 18-25 and 16-25. The loss drops the ‘B’ team to 0-4 for the season.


According to ‘B’ team coach Amelia Broadfoot, “The ‘B’ team came up short in their first home match of the season. We struggled to move our feet and communicate with each other. That being said, there were some very bright moments with some great serves and plays at the net.”


Looking ahead to next week, the 7th-grade Lady Pup spikers will be bush as they host a triangular on Monday, September 11 with Buhler Prairie Hills and Augusta before going on the road Tuesday, September 12 to battle Emporia.
