Beltz Hits 5 3-Pointers

GOESSEL – After a stinging loss to Goessel on Monday, the Canton/Galva boys bounced back on Tuesday to score a 14-point, 57-43 win over Hutchinson Central Christian at the Goessel Bluebird Classic.

The Cougars jumped out ahead of the Eagles and took a seven-point, 13-20 lead at the end of the first quarter before the Canton/Galva boys outscored the Cougars 15-5 in the second quarter to take a slight, three-point advantage of 28-25 heading into the halftime break.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles out scored Central Christian 13-7 in the third quarter and 16-11 in the final eight minutes of play to earn the final 14-point victory.

Jase Beltz had the hot hand from outside as he drilled five three-pointers to lead the Eagles in scoring with 15 points while Lane McMannis and Noah Collins also reached double digits with 13 and 10 points respectively.

Including the five threes made by Beltz, Canton/Galva connected on ten three-pointers in the game as Noah Collins hit on a pair and Leyton Witte, Wyatt Collins, and Jory Ratzlaff each made one to account for the other five.

The Eagles are now 2-1 on the season as they close out play in the Goessel Bluebird Classic on Friday when they tangle with Little River.
