YOUTH RIDE COUNTY FAIR RODEO

CANTON – At the recent McPherson County Fair they held a youth rodeo where 70 contestants in three divisions took turns at a variety of 18 challenges, including many from the local area.

In the 6-under PeeWee Division, Layla Regehr of Galva scored a win in both the Stick Horse Flag Racing and Stick Horse Barrel Racing events.

Jovey Henry of Canton, competing in the 7-11 Junior Division won both the Junior Flag Racing and Junior Goat Tying while earning a Halter donated by Jace Jackson for being one of the 7-11 All-Around Champions.

Keaton Ryan of Canton, competing in the 12-16 Senior Division scored wins in both the Team and Breakaway Roping events. Ryan also won a Halter donated by Jace Jackson for earning one of the 12-16 Senior All-Around Championships.

Other local winners were Owen Dirks of Inman in the PeeWee Sheep Riding, Brody Wilson from Galva in the PeeWee Goat Tail Untying, Rette Krehbiel of McPherson in the Senior Steer Riding, Katy Prieb of Canton in the Senior Goat Tying and Faith McMannis in Senior Barrel Racing.

Brody Wilson of Galva also scored a George and Diane Toews Memorial Trophy Buckle in the PeeWee Division for being one of two All-Around champions.

Congrats to all the participants for a rodeo well done.
