Beat Sedgwick, Remington, & Berean Academy

MOUNDRIDGE – With one game to go in the regular season, the Moundridge boys are on a roll again as they won three straight games this week with a road win over Sedgwick (43-32) on Tuesday, a home win over Remington (54-28) on Thursday before beating Berean Academy on Friday, 41-33.
With the wins the Wildcats sit at 16-3 with a Tuesday matchup at home against Sterling waiting to finish out the regular season. Moundridge is currently ranked seventh in Class 2A.
On Monday, February 26 the Wildcats will begin their Class 2A sub-state play hosted by Marion. Others in their sub-state include county rival Inman plus Ell-Saline, Cottonwood Falls/Chase County, Berean Academy, Herington, Hillsboro, and Marion.
Here is a summary of the three games this week.
MOUNDRIDGE WILDCATS at Sedgwick on Tuesday
On Tuesday at Sedgwick, the Wildcats held a six-point, 11-5 edge at the end of the first quarter but only had a four-point, 18-14 advantage heading into the halftime break.
Coming out of the break, Kreighton Kanitz scored nine of the team’s 12 third quarter points as they pushed their advantage to six at 30-24 before finishing out with the final 11-point victory, 43-32.
Kreighton Kanitz had the game high of 19 points and was the lone Wildcat to score in double digits. Both Kaizer Kanitz and Henry Hecox did chip in with seven points each.

MOUNDRIDGE WILDCATS hosting Remington on Thursday
Hosting Remington on Thursday, Moundridge led by four, 11-7 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead out to 13 at 31-18 heading into the halftime intermission.
Holding Remington to just ten second half points propelled the Wildcats to the final 26 point, 54-28 victory.
Kreighton Kanitz had a game high of 23 points while Barrett Moddelmog joined him in double digits with 12. Kaizer Kanitz just missed double digits with nine.

MOUNDRIDGE WILDCATS hosting Berean Academy on Friday
In a tough, home court battle on Friday with Berean Academy, the Wildcats survived thanks to a huge fourth quarter rally in getting the final eight-point, 41-33 win.
After being up by seven, 11-4 at the end of the first quarter, Berean Academy pulled to within two, 13-11 heading into the halftime break.
Kreighton Kanitz scored seven of Moundridge’s nine third quarter points as they entered the final eight minutes of play trailing by two, 22-24.
Then Barrett Moddelmog put the team on his broad shoulders and drained 14 of his team high 16 points in the final quarter to help rally the Wildcats to outscore Berean Academy 19-9 and secure the final eight-point victory.
Moddelmog finished with a team high of 16 while Kreighton Kanitz score 12 and Henry Hecox had nine. Only four players scored in the game with Kaizer Kanitz accounting for the other points.
