Both Lady Wildcats and Wildcat Boys Take 2nd, Unruh Earns 3 Wins

MOUNDRIDGE – It was a solid home showing for the Moundridge track/field teams on Tuesday as they hosted an 11-team invitational and both the Wildcat boys and Lady Wildcats each finished second in the team standings.

The Lady Wildcats scored wins in seven events and rolled up 99 team points, but still finished second to the numbers of medal winners by Inman who won the invitational with 193 points.

Cammi Unruh was the highlight for the Lady Wildcats as she earned three first-place indvidual medals with wins in the 100- and 200- meters, while taking first in the long jump as well. Unruh got the wins with season best marks in the latter two.

Scoring the other four wins of the day included Hattie Hecox who scored a pair of wins by taking first in the triple jump and javelin, with Haylee Jantz winning the 3,200 meters and the 4x400 meter relay team earning a win with a season best run.

Also finishing second in the team standings, the Wildcat boys scored 79 team points and lost out on the team title by a mere two points to Hutchinson Trinity who scored 81.

The Wildcats took second despite only winning one event and that was the javelin where Henry Hecox and Barrett Moddelmog took first and second.

Other highlights for the Moundridge boys included Heath Churchill and Kaizer Kanitz finishing second in the high jump and triple jump respectively while Fynn Burge and Colter Adolf ran third and sixth in the 800 meters while both earning season best times.
