WICHITA – The Moundridge football team continues to put up impressive numbers on Friday when they traveled to Wichita and ripped Independent High school 59-0 in a game that was over at halftime due to the eight-man point rules.

Even more impressive was that the Wildcats did so while only putting up 163 yards in total offense, led by Henry Hecox who completed but one pass for 14 yards but ran the ball 11 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Hecox found the end zone on runs of nine, nine, and fifteen yards.

All the rest of the Wildcat scoring came from special teams and defense as Kaizer Kanitz had a monster day by returning a pair of punt returns 55, and 43 yards for touchdowns plus he returned one of two pass interceptions for a score as well.

Layten Schmidt scored a touchdown on a blocked punt that he picked up and rambled six yards into the end zone.

Barrett Moddelmog got into the special teams party as well, returning a punt 59 yards for a score.

On defense, the Wildcats gave up but 47 yards on 29 snaps on offense, including holding Independent to zero for seven third down attempts.

Defensively, Hecox led the Wildcats with seven tackles while Layten Schmidt chipped in with five.

Now sitting at a pretty 3-0 for the season, the Wildcats will play host to Pretty Prairie on Friday, September 22. Pretty Prairie is 0-3 for the season and has been outscored 160-28.
