WILDCATS POUND HERINGTON FOR SUB-STATE WIN

MOUNDRIDGE – Eleven players scored at least a pair of points for the Moundridge boys as they pounded Herington for a 79-43 win in the first round of their Class 2A Marion Sub-State on Monday evening.

 

Now sitting at 18-3 for the season and the top seed of the sub-state, the Wildcats wait to see who the winner is in Tuesday’s sub-state battle between fourth seed Hillsboro (12-8) and fifth seed Berean Academy (9-11) to find out who they will play in the semi-finals.

 

The defending Class  2A state champions, Moundridge has already beaten Hillsboro in the second game of the season in early December and defeated Berean Academy just two weeks ago.

 

Jumping out to a 15-point, 26-11 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats pushed the advantage to 22 points at 45-23 going into the halftime break before finalizing the 36-point victory.

 

Kreighton Kanitz and Barrett Moddelmog led the Wildcat offensive attack with Kanitz scoring 23 points while Moddelmog  sank five three-pointers in scoring 20. Eleven Wildcats found points by their name in the scorebook by the time the game was over.
