CANTON – On Friday the Moundridge boys found themselves in a close battle with Bennington at the Canton/Galva Tournament before finding a way to pull away in the final eight minutes of play to win 58-49 and qualify for the tournament championship game on Saturday.

With the win, the Wildcats are now 8-1 for the season and will battle with Ell-Saline, a team that is equally efficient on the court and carries a 7-1 record into the game.

After leading by four, 15-11, at the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats allowed Bennington to tie the game at 24-24 heading to the halftime break.

Moundridge then took a slim three point, 43-40, advantage into the final eight minutes of play where  they pulled away enough to score the final nine-point victory.

Kreighton Kanitz, fresh off a 33-point night Thursday, played unstoppable offense by scoring a game high 27 points while younger brother Kaizer Kanitz also reached double digits with 13.
