WILDCATS HOLD OFF ELLINWOOD FOR 49-26 WIN

Moundridge withstood a second-half charge by Ellinwood to secure a 49-26 football win on Friday. The win raises the Wildcats' record to 2-1.
After Moundridge held a commanding 28-12 lead at halftime, Ellinwood pulled to within two points, 28-26, by the end of the third quarter before Moundridge scored three times in the fourth quarter to earn the final 23-point, 49-26 victory.
Tione Wilson led the Wildcats' offense, rushing for 184 yards on 30 carries and scoring four times. Quarterback Alex Rose threw for 125 yards and three scores to balance the attack as the Wildcats finished with 332 yards of total offense.
Defensively, Cooper Schmidt totaled 10 tackles, which included a pair for a loss of yardage and one quarterback sack. Logan Greenwalt added two interceptions, and Logan DenHartog and Atley Lichti each recorded nine tackles.
In his brief post-game reflections, Wildcat head coach Tyler O’Connor noted, “We were able to start strong, which allowed us to withstand a second-half rally. All three phases of the game had moments where they were able to step up and make the difference in a game.”
Next up for the Wildcats will be a road trip to Conway Springs. The Cardinals are looking for their first win of the season after losing to Chaparral 42-14 on Friday.
