VIKINGS SHUTOUT BY LARNED

SMOKY VALLEY LOSES 38-0

LARNED – On Friday, the Smoky Valley football team traveled to Larned and were thwarted to the tune of a 38-0 shutout loss.

Still looking for their first win of the 2023 season, the Vikings will play host to Andale next Friday, September 22. Andale was ranked number one in Class 3A coming into the weekend and they likely will this week as they remain unbeaten at 3-0 after thumping El Dorado, 73-0, on Friday.

Against Larned the Vikings could not muster up any offensive movement as they did not convert a single third downplay and only produced 126 yards on 38 offensive plays, including just 46 yards rushing on 22 carries.

Larned dinged the Viking defense for touchdown plays twice covering over 40 yards while rolling up 349 yards on 52 offensive snaps. They covered 303 yards running the ball.

On defense, Smoky Valley was led by Ezekiel Baker with nine tackles while Gavin Stambaugh and Andrew Young each recorded six.
