CHENEY – For the second game in a row, the very young Smoky Valley football team went up against a perennial powerhouse in Cheney and returned home with a 46-0 loss.

The loss drops Smoky Valley to 0-5 for the season with their next game coming on Friday, October 6 when they play host to Pratt. Pratt will bring a three-game losing streak with them and an overall record of 2-3 after losing 27-19 to Hoisington on Friday.

Facing Andale and Cheney back-to-back has been a learning experience for the Vikings who could be playing with one of their youngest teams ever, losing to both by a combined 122-0.

On Friday, the Vikings did manage to get 88 yards rushing from junior Ezekiel Baker while freshman Christian Erickson had 67.

Cheney needed just 31 plays to roll up 314 yards of offense as it was the big plays that proved to be the undoing of Smoky Valley with Cheney scoring five of their seven scores came from more than 25 yards out, including an 80-yard kickoff and 83-yard punt return for scores.

Sophomores Kristian Ryan and Andrew Lochard plus junior Ezekiel Baker led the Viking defense with six, four and four tackles, respectively.
