NICKERSON – Finally, the Smoky Valley football team got a win, beating Nickerson 28-6 on the road on Friday.


Now 1-7 for the season, the Vikings will now go on the road to Scott City to play Scott Community in Class 3A regionals. Scott Community will enter the game 7-1 on the season.


Gavin Stambaugh led the offense, running for 159 yards and one touchdown while Ezekiel Baker finished with 85 yards and a score plus freshman Christian Erickson had 57 yards rushing and two scores.


Toren Miller and Stambaugh led the Viking defense with eight and seven tackles, respectively.
