VIKING WRESTLERS BUSY AT HESSTON, REMINGTON

Gardner Goes 8-0 in 2 Days!

LINDSBORG – It was a busy couple of days for the Smoky Valley boy wrestlers as they competed in the Hesston Duals on Thursday along with Ellinwood and Southeast of Saline before turning around on Friday and competing in the 12-team Reminton Invitational.

On Thursday, the Vikings won all three of their duals, beating Ellinwood 39-21, Southeast of Saline 40-33, and host Hesston 42-22.

Parker Gardner, currently ranked number three at 175 by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA), went 3-0 as did Connor Barnes who is ranked number four at 132 by the KWCA.

Also winning all three individual duals were Deonte Crain at 120, and  Takoda Hauck at 138. Rhett Gaskill, Christian Erickson, Geovanni Luis, and Conner Smith-Bolin all finished the day at 2-1.

At the Remington Invitational, the Vikings won four division titles as Parker Gardner continued to clean house with a five-fall, 5-0 mark on the day at 175 while Connor Barnes won at 132, Christian Erickson won at 157 and Geovanni Luis took the title at 190. Between the four they finished 14-0 in matches.

Rhett Gaskill went 4-1 at 136 and earned a second-place finish as well.

Next up for the Viking wrestlers will be the 33rd Annual Circle Wrestling Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3.
