2 Make top-ten Finishes.

CLAY CENTER – The Smoky Valley cross country team ran at the Clay Center Invitational on Thursday and came home with a pair of top-ten finishes as well as a 2nd and 7th place team finishes.
For the Viking boys, junior Britton Becker ran an 18:12.50 which was good for ninth while Samuel Peterson was the next top Viking runner at 22nd. The Viking boys finished with a total of 164 points which was good for 7th in the competition which was won by Smoky Valley Homeschoolers with 58 while Wamego finished second with 68.
The Lady Vikings ended up second in the team standings with 99 points, a good 40 points behind Invitational champion and host Clay Center. Smoky Valley Homeschoolers finished third with 115 points.
Keira Mullen ran a time of 21:29.10 which placed her 7th while Hope Willems, a sophomore, and freshman Sophia Eyer ran 15th and 16th respectively. Junior Sophia Fruits gave the Lady Vikings a fourth top-twenty runner as she placed 20th.
Next up for the Smoky Valley harriers will be on Tuesday, September 19 when they run at Southeast of Saline.
