VIKING CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 3rd, 6th AT SE OF SALINE

On Tuesday the Smoky Valley cross country teams ran at the Southeast of Saline Invitational and brought home a sixth-place individual finish plus a third and sixth place team finishes.


For the Lady Vikings, Keira Mullen ran a season best time of 21:14.14 to place sixth in the girls race where the Smoky Valley girls took third in the team standings with 95 points, behind host Southeast of Saline and Salina Sacred Heart.


Both Sophia Eyer, just a freshman, and Esther Clark both finished in the top-twenty of 63 runners by placing 17th and 20th.


For the Viking boys, they placed sixth overall with 172 points. Southeast of Saline won the boys division while Berean Academy, Smoky Valley Homeschoolers, Chapman, and Abilene rounded out the top five.


The best finish for the Viking boys came from senior Samuel Peterson and Braden Eyer who finished 20th and 21st.


The Viking boys junior varsity placed 7th as a team led by a 14th placing by freshman Isaiah Ayala.


Next up for the Smoky Valley runners will come on Thursday, September 28 at Halstead.
