McConnell, Welch, Schrag lead Inman

INMAN – Playing at home for the first time in 2023, the first time on the new turf and for homecoming, the Inman football team also earned their first win of the season by out running Remington for a 26-6 victory.
The Teutons put up 395 yards on 64 offensive plays including 321 yards rushing while holding Remington to just 296 yards on 86 snaps. Both teams struggled on third downs as Inman converted just three of eleven and Remington converted just one of twelve.
Neither team managed to find the end zone in the first quarter and only Remington found it in the second on a 69-yard run to hold a 6-0 advantage over Inman at the halftime break.
Finally, Dawson McConnell broke loose to rumble 89 yards for a score in the third quarter which they followed up with an eight-yard scoring pass from Malachi Brunk to Talon Welch to give the Teutons a 14-6 lead going into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, TJ Froese took a pass interception to the house to give the Teutons a 20-6 lead before McConnell rambled in for his second score of the game, this time from 33 yards, to give Inman their final 20-point, 26-6 victory.
Malachi Brunk directed traffic for the Teutons from his quarterback position, mostly giving the ball to McConnell who finished the game with 153 yards on just 11 carries. Talon Welch ran for 115 yards on 14 totes and Kellen Schrag picked up 51 yards as well.
Defensively, Schrag led the Teutons with 12 tackles of which 10 were solo stops. Sebastian Martinez was in on 9.5 tackles and Zachary Martisko had 8.5 stops.
Now 1-2 for the season, the Teutons stay at home on Friday, September 22 when they play host to Sterling. The Black Bears are currently 2-1 for 2023 and coming off a 41-6 thrashing of Sedgwick on Friday.
