Welch, Schrag, McConnell Lead Teutons to Win

INMAN – The youthful Inman football team closed out their 2023 season on Friday with a home game against Syracuse where the Teutons scored a commanding 58-0 shutout win.
The victory gave the Teutons and final 2023 season mark of 3-6.
Inman opened the game with three touchdowns and a safety followed by a single score in the second quarter, giving them a big 30-0 advantage at the halftime break.
The Teutons followed that up with three more scores in the third quarter and a fourth in the fourth stanza to get to the final 58-0 win.
Dominating the stat sheet, the Teutons rolled up 19 first downs while gaining 356 yards in offense on 53 snaps, including 258 yards on the ground. The Inman defense held Syracuse to just a pair of first downs and just 32 total yards on 42 plays, including a negative two yards running the ball.
Kellen Schrag ran for 71 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries while completing three-of-five passes for another 82 yards and score. Talon Welch only carried the ball nine times but ran for 78 yards and a pair of scores while Dawson McConnell had 10 carries for 51 yards and a score as well. Malachi Brunk threw just a pair of passes but completed one for 16 yards and a score. Broady Froese, Zachary Martisko and Korbyn McClellan each caught a pass for a score.
Talon Welch recorded a pair of quarterback sacks and two tackles for losses while TJ Froese had one sack and a pair of tackles for losses. Nineteen Teutons put at least a single defensive stat by their name during the game.
