INMAN – On Tuesday, the Inman volleyball team hosted Bennington for a pair of matches and moved their season mark up to 8-1 after winning both matches.

In the first match the Lady Teutons dominated Bennington in the first set, winning 25-13 only to have the visitors bounce back and take a five-point, 20-25 win in set two. Inman got back to play Lady Teuton ball and once again dominated the third set, 25-11, to get the match victory.

“We started the first match with great energy and ready to play,” explained Lady Teuton head coach Kristi Froese. “With the second set, I felt like they went in with the mindset of that they would win it easily. Volleyball can be such a roller coaster of emotions type of game and we have been working on trying to carry the same high energy when playing well into the next game, however, that was not what w did in this case. We got down 5-0 with all the points being unforced errors. After a couple of runs when we were down 22-8 and got a little momentum, but the comeback was too late. I was proud of how hard they played and the determination to make a comeback. After a brief pep talk and self-reflection, we came back to win the third set and the match.”

Suttyn Harris led the Lady Teutons in kills with 18 while Morgan Froese had seven. Kambrey Woods and Taylor Froese directed the offense with Woods dishing out 18 assists and Froese handing out 14.

Morgan Froes and Chloe Schmidt each made nine blocks while Kenna Woods and Madelyn Brunk knocked out eight and seven digs, respectively.

Inman took a straight set (25-18, 25-16) win over Bennington in the second match of the evening as Kambrey Woods directed the offense by dishing out 13 assists.

Suttyn Harris with 13 kills, Madelyn Brunk knocked out five digs and the trio of Taylor Froese, Morgan Froese and Chloe Schmidt each made six blocks in the victory.

Coach Froese concluded her post match reflections by adding, “The second match went a lot better as we got the win in straight sets, but it did not come without some fight from Bennington, so they did not let us win easily.”

The Lady Teuton junior varsity went three sets for a win over Bennington, winning 25-17, 18-25, and 15-12, while the Inman ‘C’ team scored a straight set, 25-16, 25-14, win as well.

Next up for the varsity Lady Teuton spikers will come on Saturday, September 9 when they compete at the Haven Tournament.
