LADY VIKINGS WINS INVITE, CLARK FINISHES 3RD.

            CLAY CENTER – On Thursday, September 19, the Smoky Valley cross country teams went on the road and  participated in the Clay Center Invitational where Esther Clarks placed third in leading the Lady Vikings to a team title.

 

            The Lady Viking runners scored a team championship with 64 points, 13 ahead of runner-up Wamego with 77. Riley County (99), Chapman (112) and host Clay Center (124) rounded out the top five teams.

 

            Esther Clark ran a time of 21:24.10 which placed her third among 79 runners while Hope Willems finished tenth with and Sophia Eyer placed thirteenth with a season best run. Sophia Fruits ran twenty-second to give Smoky Valley four runners in the top twenty-five.

 

            The Smoky Valley boys placed eighth in the team standings with 216 points, well behind team champion Wamego at 42 and runner-up Chapman with 44.

 

            The top runner for the Vikings was Isaiah Ayala who ran a season best of 20:07.77 and finished twenty-seventh while Kaden Bishop also had a season best run of 20:10.55 and placed twenty-ninth.

 

            Next up for the Smoky Valley runners will be on Tuesday, September 24 at Southeast of Saline.
