LADY VIKING SPIKERS SPLIT PAIR AT HESSTON

            HESSTON – On Tuesday, the Smoky Valley volleyball team traveled south to Hesston and split a pair  of matches, beating Larned in straight sets before four points decided the win or eventual loss to Hesston.

            Against Larned, the Lady Vikings won straight sets in easy fashion, 25-12 and 25-7.

            Both Katja Blanchat and Ceeley Friesen dug out six digs while Blanchat also had  five  kills and two blocks. Friesen also topped the team in serve aces with three and assists with four.

            In a pair of hard fought, close sets, Smoky Valley lost straight sets by a total of four points, 23-25 and 23-25.

            Blanchat led the Lady Vikings in kills with eleven and digs with seven. Ceeley Friesen handed out 15 of the team’s 18 assists.

            Now 9-12 for the season, the Lady Vikings were scheduled to play at Hoisington along with Halstead on Tuesday, October 1 before heading to Nickerson on  Thursday, October 3 where Chapman will play as well.
