SMOKY VALLEY GRAPPLERS SPLIT PAIR OF DUALS WITH CHAPMAN

Lady Vikings Win, Viking Boys Lose by 1

CHAPMAN – On Thursday the Smoky Valley boys and girls wrestlers traveled to Chapman for a pair of dual meets where the boys lost on a penalty point deduction while the girls scored a win where they doubled the team points of Chapman.

The Lady Vikings won 36-18 as they won six weight divisions, including by falls from Taytum Reed at 125, Keira Mullen at 135, and Kasyn French at 140. Peyton Wesley, Kenzlie Crain, and Gemma Carter all won by forfeit with Chapman not having a wrestler at their weight division.

In a real battle among the boys, the Vikings lost by one point, 35-36, after they were deducted a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Viking boys lost four matches by decisions with two of them decided by just one or two points.  Earning for wins by a fall for Smoky Valley included Connor Bares at 132, Jakorian Crain at 144, Parker Gardner at 175, and Conner Smith-Bolin at 215.

Next up for the Smoky Valley wrestlers finds the Vikings and Lady Vikings both competing in the Hesston Invitational on Saturday.
