CLARK WINS LEAGUE TITLE - LADY VIKING FINISH 2ND AT LEAGUE MEET

LARNED – On Thursday, the Smoky Valley cross country teams competed at the Central Kansas League Meet in Larned where the Lady Vikings took second in the team standings with Esther Clark winning the individual title.

Clark ran a 20:24.89 to win the 5K varsity race while Sophia Eyer, Sophia Fruits and Emma Chaput all medaled as well with Eyer finishing ninth, Fruits ran fourteenth and Chaput placed fifteenth.

Roxie Riedel finished twenty-third and Garcia Peterson ran twenty-seventh, giving the entire Lady Viking team a top-thirty individual finish as the team scored 53 points to finish second in the team standings behind league champion Hesston with 34.

For the Viking boys, the team finished seventh in the team standings with 157 points, well behind league champion Pratt who had 69.

The Vikings had two medal winners as Kaden Biship ran tenth and Isaiah Ayala finished eighteenth.

On Saturday, October 26, the Viking harriers will run in the Class 3A regional at Gypsum, hosted by Ell-Saline.
