LINCOLN – Unlike the girls team, the Little River boys basketball team had to fight late in the game to hold on and earn a final three-point, 54-51 win on the road at Lincoln.

The Redskins and Lincoln were tied at 18-18 at the end of the first quarter when Little River went on a 16-0 run in the second quarter to take a 34-18 advantage into the halftime break.

Lincoln chipped away a couple of points in the third though Little River still held a seemingly solid lead of 14 at 48-34 heading into the final quarter of play when Lincoln out scored Little River 17-6 forcing the Redskins to fight for the final three-point margin of victory.

The youth movement showed up for Little River as four of the five players that scored were either sophomores or freshman, though it was junior Logan Renken that led the team with 20 points thanks to a pair of three-pointers.

Sophomore Jaxson Konen finished with 16 points as he hit all five of his free throws and connected on four-of-six from the field while also leading in the team in assists with four and tied for the lead in rebounds with four along with freshman Blayne Bandetti. CJ Herzog nabbed five steals as the team made fifteen total.

The Redskins will be back on the competitive court on Tuesday with a game against lyria Christian as part of the Goessel Bluebird Classic.
