INMAN – After a disappointing finish to the 2022-23 season, the Inman girls basketball program has a new coach and six solid returnees to build for success in 2023-24.

Last season the Lady Teutons stumbled to the finish with a 10-12 record and a fourth-place finish in the Heart of America League.

For 2023-24, Matt Harris will be the director of the program as the new head coach with assistance from Darrin Eddy.

“We think our key to success is getting all the newcomers and starters comfortable with their roles on the team,” noted coach Harris as keys to the success of the season. “They need to understand our strengths as a team and work toward playing to them.”

The cupboard is not bare for the new coach as his four returning starters averaged 33.5 points and 15.8 rebounds per game beginning with last season’s super freshman Suttyn Harris who earned all-league and all-state honors after averaging 20.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Leading the other three returning starters is sophomore Kenna Woods and seniors Taelyn Friesen and Madelyn Brunk.

Another pair of Lady Teutons who provided 6.3 points and 6.4 rebounds a game off the bench last season are senior Kambry Woods and sophomore Morgan Froese. Senior Becca Black and junior Katie Nichols also earned letters last season.

The Inman coaches are high on the ability to contribute by three newcomers including sophomore Allison Schrag and a pair of freshmen, Ellie Thimmesch and Taylor Froese.

Coach Harris concluded his brief reflections on the upcoming season by saying, “Our goal is to win the Heart of America League and then improve during the season in hops of making a run late in the season going into sub-state.”

The Lady Teutons will open the 2023-24 season hosting Minneapolis on Friday, December 1 before playing in the Moundridge Early Season Tournament the first full week of December.
