HECOX, GRILL, ELMORE LED WILDCATS TO 76-6 ROMP

            MOUNDRIDGE – After missing a week due to weather, the Moundridge were fired up to play some football on Friday, and did they play some ball indeed as they rolled past visiting Herington for a 76-6 victory.

 

            Scoring 55 points in the first half, Moundridge went up 28-0 by the end of the first quarter on a scoring run by Paul Grill and a pass from Henry Hecox to Kaizer Kanitz on either end of punt returns for touchdowns by Kanitz and Bear Moddelmog.

 

            Grill and Hecox both scored twice in the second quarter as the Wildcats ran out to a 55-6 lead as the teams hit the halftime break.

 

            Kanitz ran his second punt return back for a score in the third quarter while Kaden Elmore ran for a score in the fourth and the Wildcats scored a safety in the fourth to earn the final 76-6 victory.

 

            Moundridge ran up 262 yards in offense on just 28 plays that included 202 running the ball. Paul Grill rambled for 88 yards and three scores on just four carries and Kaden Elmore ran for another 67 yards on six carries.

 

            Hecox only threw the ball four times but completed three for sixty yards and a score.

 

            On defense, the Wildcats held Herington to just 18 yards running the ball  on 18 attempts and just 14 yards passing for a total of just 69 yards in offense.

 

            Leading the defense was Hecox, Grill and Kaden Elmore, all of whom recorded seven tackles. Logan Wulf, Thomas Jenkins, and Bear Moddelmog all chipped in with six tackles.

 

            Next up for the Wildcats will be a home game against Remington on Friday, October 4. The game will also be fall homecoming.
