WILDCATS BEAT #2 RANKED STERLING BY 11

MOUNDRIDGE – On Friday, the top ranked team in Class 2A, Moundridge, hosted a battle with the second ranked Sterling Black Bears where the Wildcats fought off a rally by Sterling and scored an 11-point, 58-47 win.
After taking a two-point, 11-9, lead by the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats pushed the advantage out to seven, 23-16, as the teams headed to the halftime break. Sterling showed some grit in the third quarter, out scoring Moundridge by eight points to take a slim one-point, 33-34, advantage into the final quarter of action where the Wildcats ran away from the Black Bears, outscoring them 25-13 to earn the final 11-point victory.
Half the Wildcat points came from Bear Moddelmog as he had a career night, scoring 29 points thanks to connecting on four three-pointers. Heath Churchill just missed double digits with nine.

Next up for the 7-0 Wildcats will be on Tuesday, January 14 when they will play host to Wichita Central Christian Academy before closing out the week on Friday, January 17 on the road at Wichita Classical.
