WILDCATS ONE GAME FROM STATE TOURNEY

MOUNDRIDGE – One game now stands between the Moundridge boys and an opportunity to make a run for their third straight Class 2A championship as they scored a 30-point, 55-25, win over visiting Wichita Classical on Tuesday in the sub-state semi-final game.

The Wildcats are now 22-0 and will battle with Berean Academy on Friday, with the winner earning a spot at the Class 2A state tournament. Berean earned the meeting with a one-point, 44-43, win over Hillsboro and will bring a season mark of 16-6 to the game as the fourth seed. Moundridge defeated Berean Academy by 10 the first Tuesday in February.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats trailed by one, 9-10, at the end of the first quarter before pouring 20 points in the scorebook in the second quarter while holding Wichita Classical to just nine, giving them a commanding 10-point, 29-19, advantage at the halftime break.
After stretching out the lead to 10, 43-23, by the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats then closed out the game for the final 30-point, 55-25, victory.
Bear Moddelmog led the Wildcats with a game high 22 points while Henry Hecox and Heath Churchill chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
