LADY WILDCATS – 2025 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPS!!!

MANHATTAN – They did it, the Moundridge girls put three solid games back-to-back-to-back to earn themselves a Class 2A State Championship on Saturday when they defeated Highland/ Doniphan West by 11, 62-51.
With the win the Lady Wildcats closed out the 2024/25 season with a record of 24-2 including a final ten-game winning streak. Highland/Doniphan West finishes the season 19-5.

After Moundridge took a six-point, 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Mustangs pulled back to within three, 31-28, heading into the halftime break. The Lady Wildcats poured 20 points into the scorebook in the third quarter to pull ahead by 16, 51-35, before holding off a fourth quarter rally by Highland/Doniphan West to gain the final 11-point win and a Class 2A State Championship.
Hattie Hecox led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 19 while Cammi Unruh hit for 13 and both Mackenzie Conkling and Macy Kaminkow just missed double digits with nine each. Hattie Hecox and Conkling each dropped in three three-pointers while Kaminkow grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
Going up against county rival Inman on Friday in the semi-finals, the Lady Wildcats overcame a sluggish first quarter to prevail in a 20-point, 46-26 victory. It was their third win over the Lady Teutons in the season.
The Lady Teuton took a two-point, 9-11, lead at the end of the first quarter before Moundridge’s offense got on track and put 19 points in the scorebook in the second quarter to take a commanding 12-point, 28-16, lead into the halftime break and then hanging on for the final 20-point win.
Cammi Unruh and Hattie Hecox shared the team high of 14 points.
On Thursday, the Lady Wildcats got it all started with a 12-point, 62-50, win over Thomas More Prep.
After leading by three, 14-11, at the end of the first quarter, Moundridge moved to a six-point, 29-23, halftime advantage before outscoring TMP in the final two quarters 33-28 to earn the final 12-point victory.
Cammi Unruh came out blazing with a game high 26 points while Hattie Hecox scored 11 and Halle Hecox chipped in with nine.
