WILDCATS ROLL AGAIN, BEAT REMINGTON 41-8

By Staff
MOUNDRIDGE – The Moundridge football team continues to flourish with the step back up into 11-man football as they hosted Remington on Friday and rolled to a 41-8 victory.
A pair of touchdown passes from Henry Hecox to Logan Greenwalt of 15 yards and Kaizer Kanitz of one yard, plus a pair of extra point kicks by Cyrus Blough gave the Wildcats an early 14-0 advantage by the end of the first quarter.
Three more scores in the second quarter put the game out of reach by the halftime break at 35-0 as Hecox scored on a one-yard run and tossed a 10-yard scoring pass to Kanitz while Bear Moddelmog grabbed a fumble and ran for the end zone for the third score.
After Remington nicked the Wildcat defense for a 69-yard scoring run in the third quarter, Hecox connected with Moddelmog for a nine-yard scoring pass to close out the scoring and earn the final 41-8 victory.
According to the reflections on the game, Wildcat head coach Tyler O’Connor explained, “After a slow start the defense got the game going by forcing a couple of turnovers and the offense did a good job of capitalizing on them. Our special teams played a significant role once again as well.”
Speaking of the Moundridge defense, they held Remington to 160 yards on 36 offensive plays with only 19 yards passing. Besides the Moddelmog fumble recovery for a score, the Wildcats Henry Hecox and Kaizer Kanitz each grabbed an interception as well.
On offense, the Wildcats rolled up 257 yards on 39 plays with it evenly divided between 158 yards passing and 141 running. On third downs, Moundridge converted six of eight.
Individually, Hecox completed eight-of-twelve passes for 141 yards and the four scores while also running for 51 yards on six carries. Logan Greenwalt pitched in with 40 yards on eight totes of the ball. Bear Moddelmog was the top target of passes with 58 yards on a pair of catches while Fynn Burge covered 42 yards on his only reception.
Now 4-0 for the season, the Wildcats travel to battle Marion on Friday, October 11. Marion will come into the game at 4-1 with their 26-7 win over Inman on Friday.
