Two Teams now 15-1 on Season

MCPHERSON – The McPherson Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball teams played games against Winfield, Ark City and Augusta this week and went unbeaten with six wins and no losses.

With the six wins, the eighth-grade Junior Lady Pups ‘A’ team is now 7-1 for the season while the ‘B’ team is undefeated at 8-0.

On Monday against Winfield, the eighth grade ‘A’ team scored a 23-point, 33-10 win as Kennedy Bonham and Audra Sandbo led the team in scoring with ten and nine points respectively. Bonham and Karlie Cooper each grabbed six rebounds and Sandbo swiped six steals and dished out four assists.

In the ‘B’ game, the Junior Lady Pups won 16-7 as Rut Diaz Chay led the scoring with six.

Tuesday, the Junior Lady Pups hosted Arkansas City where the ‘A’ team scored a decisive 27-point, 34-7 victory as Amarie Lowery scored eight and both Jersey Alexander and Kennedy Bonham each had seven. Bonham led the team in rebounds with five, and both Lowery and Alexander made five steals.

In the ‘B’ game with Ark City, McPherson won by 10, 14-4.

On Thursday, the eighth-grade Junior Lady Pups closed out the week on the road with a solid 33-point, 40-17, hammering of Augusta. Jersey Alexander and Amarie Lowery both hit double digits scoring with 15 and 10 points while Kennedy Bonham just missed with nine. Bonham pulled down seven rebounds as well.

The ‘B’ team closed out their week with a heart stopping, three-point, 15-12 win.

With Thanksgiving coming up, the Junior Lady Pups have just a single set of games on Monday, hosting Circle.
