Sweep Haysville West, Split with Haysville

MCPHERSON – The McPherson Middle School seventh-grade girls closed out their 2023 season last week with a split of two games with Haysville and a sweep of a pair on the road at Haysville West.

With the wins the seventh grade ‘A’ team closed out the regular season with a record of 10-5 while the ‘B’ team finished their season at 7-6 with a split of two games.

On Monday, the seventh grade ‘A’ Junior Lady Pups hosted Haysville and rolled past them for a 41-7 win.

Both Kamryn Prescott and Caysen Blake hit for double digits in scoring with 10 points each while Zayna Busse came close with eight.

In the game on Thursday, the ‘A’ team traveled south to play Haysville West and pulled out a final six-point, 25-19 victory.

No Junior Lady Pup reached double digits though Caysen Blake with eight points and Everlee Buchman with seven came close.

‘A’ Team Junior Lady Pups Scoring > Caysen Blake – 8; Everlee Buchman – 7; Hannah Wilgers – 5; Hadly Barly – 4; Zayna Busse – 1.

‘B’ TEAM RESULTS >

Monday at home against Haysville, the seventh grade ‘B’ team lost a heartbreaker by three points, 25-28.

Zayna Busse led the team in scoring with nine.

The ‘B’ team Junior Lady Pups came back strong on Thursday and earned a 16 point, 32-16, road win over Haysville West.

Ava Mendoza closed out her season with a double-digit game by scoring 10.
