Drop 2 Matches to Circle

By Staff
TOWANDA – The McPherson Middle School 7th grade volleyball teams traveled to Towanda on Monday to tangle with Circle Middle School in their final regular season matches and lost both battles.
The 7th grade Junior Lady Pup ‘A’ team dropped both sets in their tangle with Circle, losing 15-25 and 14-25.
“This was a tough loss for us,” explained head coach Destiny Espinoza. “We showed up with good energy and attainable individual goals, but just could not bring it together as a team. Our serve receive game was in the negative percentage and we did not protect the serve. It was a hard loss, but we are ready to regroup and go into our tournament this weekend and play our game.”
The ‘A’ team finishes their regular season at 11-6.
On Saturday, October 14 the 7th-grade Junior Lady Pups will play in the Patriot League Tournament at Haysville West Middle School.
For the 7th grade ‘B’ Junior Lady Pups closed out their 2023 season at 5-15 after dropping a pair of matches to Circle, 5-25 and 10-25.
“Unfortunately, we came up short in our last matches with Circle,” noted ‘B’ team coach Amelia Broadfoot. “We struggled to pass the ball in serve receive. It was not the ending the team wanted, but we are very proud of the season we had. The girls improved immensely over the course of the season. As their coach, I have loved coaching these girls and watching them become not only great volleyball players but great young people as well.”
