LITTLE RIVER WINS BOTH GIRLS/BOYS DIVISION AT WSL LEAGUE MEET

14 1ST-PLACE WINS, SMITH EARNS 3!!

SOLOMON – On Thursday, the Little River track/field teams nearly dominated the Wheat State League Meet at Solomon as they won both the boys and girls team titles along with 14 first-place wins, including three by Andrew Smith.

 

Among those who finished in the top-six of an event to score team points, 11 times they were setting season best marks as well.

 

Next up for the Little River track/field teams will be the Class 1A State Regionals in Greensburg on Thursday, May 16.

LITTLE RIVER REDSKIN TRACK/FIELD at Wheat State League Meet in Solomon

 

The Lady Redskins won the team championship with 134 points, well ahead of runner-up Goessel with 122.50 and third-place Wakefield with 71. Elyria Christian, Rural Vista, Centre, Solomon, Canton/Galva, and Herington rounded out the nine-team field.

Highlighting the Lady Redskins events was a pair of wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays along with Kami Grasser winning the 200 meters, Havana Olander scoring the best triple jump, Kate Ellwood soaring the highest in the pole vault and Avery Lafferty tossing the best in the discus.

Aubrey Olander scored a pair of seasons best runs in finishing second in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Saelyn Raleigh was second in both the 100- and 200-meters and Havana Olander finished second in the long jump.

100 Meter Hurdles > 2. Aubrey Olander – 16.45 (season best); 3. Havana Olander – 16.66.

300 Meter Hurdles > 2. Aubrey Olander – 49.18 (season best).

4x100 Meter Relay > 1. Lady Redskins – 51.38.

4x400 Meter Relay > 1. Lady Redskins – 4:19.70.

The Little River boys also won the team championship as they scored 134 points. Rural Vista was second with 114 and Goessel finished third with 79.

Andrew Smith dominated the dashes as he earned a three first-place medals in winning the 100-, 200-, and  400 meters.

 

Also bringing home a pair of first-place medals were both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams and Jay Smith in the 100- and 400-meter wheelchair runs, both with season best times.

 

Christopher Norez had the other first-place win as he threw the best javelin toss of the day.
