LADY REDSKINS 18-3, FINISH MONTH RANKED #1

            LITTLE RIVER – The drive to a three-peat as state champions continues for the Little River volleyball team as they finish the month of September with seven more wins, an invitational championship and still ranked number one in Class 1A Division I.

            On Tuesday, September 24 the Lady Redskins traveled to Herington and earned a straight set win over Solomon (25-18, 25-15) followed by a three-set victory over host Herington (25-10, 23-25 and 28-26).

            Against Solomon, Evie Look and Arika Feldman looked to run the offense as they combined for 25 assists while Saelyn Raleigh made 10 kills and Adelynne Strecker punched out 11 digs.

            After Little River routed host Herington in the first set, 25-10, the Lady Railroaders challenged the Lady Redskins and won the second set 23-25 before taking Little River to overtime before losing 28-26, keeping Little River perfect on the day.

            Evie Look and Arika Feldman again ran the offense and combined for another 31 assists while Look also made 21 digs. Adelynne Strecker and Havana Olander pitched in with 18 and 11 digs, respectively with Olander also recording 18 kills along with 15 by Feldman.

            On Saturday, Little River took on the Lyons Invitational where they won four straight set matches before taking down Ellinwood  in three sets to win the Invitational team championship.

            Against Sterling, the Lady Redskins won 25-20, 25-15 as Arika Feldman scored 10 kills and 13 assists with Adelynne Strecker and Havana Olander each making nine digs.

            Feldman again made 10 assists to go with three serve aces in the straight set win over Ellsworth (25-17, 25-16). Strecker made 10 more digs along with Saelyn Raleigh and Olander each recording seven kills.

            The third match of the day against Kingman, Little River scored a dominating 25-8 first set win before tough through for a 25-20 second set win and match victory. Feldman and Evie Look combined for 21 assists, Saelyn Raleigh made 11 kills and Feldman punched out nine digs.

            Southeast of Saline felt the dominance of the Lady Redskins in losing both sets 25-12 and 25-12 as Evie Look handed out  10 assists, Adelynne Strecker made 11digs and Feldman forced eight kills.

            In the Invitational championship match, Ellinwood got the best of Little River 18-25 in the first set before the Lady Redskins bounced back and took an overtime 27-25 second set win followed by a 25-15 third set win and the  championship win.

            Evie Look and Arika Feldman combined for 30 of the Little River’s 36 assists while Saelyn Raleigh, Feldman and Havana Olander combined for 35 of the team’s 38 kills. Adelynne  Strecker led the team in digs with 12.

            Now 18-3 on the season the Lady Redskins were scheduled to battle Peabody/Burns at home on Tuesday before traveling to Inman on Thursday to tangle with the Lady Teutons, the number one ranked team in Class 2A supporting a 21-1 record.
