LITTLE RIVER TRACKSTERS DOMINATE AT PEABODY/BURNS

Redskins win 10, Lady Redskins win 9 1st Place Finishes

PEABODY – On Tuesday, the Little River track/field teams went to the six-team Peabody/Burns meet and dominated both divisions, winning  a total of 19 first place medals.

 

By scoring 143 team points, the Redskin boys ran away from the other five teams for the team title while winning 10 events.

 

Andrew Smith ran first in both the 200- and 400-meters while finishing second in the 100 meters. Cole Dieball was also a double winner by throwing the best in the shot put and discus.

 

The Redskins won six of seven field events as besides Dieball, Christopher Norez won the javelin, Jhet Ewertt took first in the triple jump and Ty Janette  won the high jump.

 

Other Redskin wins on the track came from Brady Obley in the 3,200 meters and both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays.

 

The Lady Redskins scored 117 team points, well ahead of Elyria Christian with 73 and Sedgwick with 51, and in the process earned wins in nine events. Alaina Eck, Aubrey Olander, and Havana Olander each won a pair of events.

 

Eck won both the 100- and 400-meters, while Aubrey Olander swept the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and Havana Olander scored win in the long jump and triple jump.

 

Kami Grasser had the other individual first-place finish for her run in the 200 meters while both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams also ran first. Five other events had a Little River athlete finish in second-place.
