LITTLE RIVER SPIKERS DOMINATE LEAGUE MEET

WIN 5 MATCHES in 10 STRAIGHT SETS

LITTLE RIVER – Not only did the Little River volleyball host the 2023 Wheat State League Tournament on Saturday, but the Lady Redskins also dominated it as well, winning all five matches in straight sets.

It was dominant that of the ten straight set wins, only one had the opponent finish within five points of Little River.

Scoring the first match win over Elyria Christian, the Lady Redskins won 25-11, 25-9 as Kate Ellwood directed the offense by dishing out 15 assists while Adelynne Strecker and Alaina Eck each punched out eight digs and Eck recorded nine kills.

In the straight set win over Herington, Ellwood had 16 assists, Eck made 13 kills and Strecker scored another eight digs.

Beathing Solomon in the third match of the day for Little River, they were led by Ellwood with 23 assists, Eck with 16 kills and Kami Grasser getting nine digs.

Dominating Canton/Galva, the Lady Redskins won their two sets by a total 24 points as Ellwood passed out another 10 assists, Grasser made seven more digs and Eck had eight kills.

Goessel in the final match of the day came within four of Little River in the first set before the Lady Redskins won 25-21 which was followed up by a 25-10 win in the final set of the day. Ellwood had another 13 assists, Grasser pounded out nine more digs and Eck recorded another eight kills.

With the sweep of five matches at the Wheat State League Tournament, the Lady Redskins complete the 2023 regular season schedule with an eye-popping record of 34-2.

Little River will now prepare to be the host team at their Class 1A Division I state volleyball regional next Saturday, October 21.
