LITTLE RIVER – At home in the wind and in front of the home folks, the Little River literally ran its way to a 46-0 shutout win over winless Pretty Prairie on Friday.

Now 5-2 for the season, the Redskins will now close out the regular season part of the 2023 schedule next Friday, October 20 on the road at Goessel. Goessel will enter the game just 1-6 after being shutout Friday by Moundridge 0-48.

For Little River, Andrew Smith ran for touchdowns from forty, sixty-nine and six yards out to help give the Redskins a commanding 34-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

The other two scores in the first quarter came from Kyler Bergkamp on a five-yard spring to the end zone followed by a return of a Pretty Prairie pass interception, 79 yards for another score.

After nobody scored in the second quarter, the Redskins opened the second half with a 75-yard kickoff return by Bergkamp for a score before Andrew Smith sprinted into the end zone from 36 yards to put Little River over the 46-point mark, ending the game early due to point rules.

Both teams recorded eight first downs with Pretty Prairie needing 44 plays to do so and Little River only needing 15 to do the same. Pretty Prairie ended the game with 130 total yards while the Redskins ran up 212 yards, all of which came running the ball as they did not even attempt a pass.

Andrew Smith rambled for 172 yards and four scores running on just eight carries to lead the Little River offense.

Defensively, Carter Stansbury recorded eight tackles of which three were solo stops with both Bergkamp and Ruxton Birdsong getting 4.5 tackles of which three were also solo stops.
