REDSKINS POUND AWAY RURAL VISTA FOR A 58-12 WIN

            LITTLE RIVER – On Friday, the Little River football team made their 2024 season home debut and did not let down the home crown as they pounded away at visiting Rural Vista for a 46-point, 58-12 victory.

 

            The Redskins put a pair of touchdowns on the scoreboard in the first quarter with Logan Renken connecting with Jaren Garrison for a 24-yard scoring pass play before finishing the quarter with a 49-yard scoring run of his own. Rural Vista kept it close with a score to make it 14-6.

 

            Garrison hit CJ Herzog for a 24-yard scoring pass in the second quarter and Ty Jarrett broke loose for a nine-yard scoring jaunt as well, before Rural Vista tried to keep it close with a score to pull within 18 at 30-12. Renken dashed 46 yards for a score late in the quarter and then Garrison connected with Logan Schubert for a23 yard score to give the Redskins a 44-12 advantage heading into the halftime break.



 

            In the third quarter, Little River pulled away with Renken running  for a score from 39-yards out and Jhett Ewertt scoring on a four-hard run to give Little River the final 58-12 win.

 

            Little River ran just 39 plays but covered 357 yards in offense with 272 of that coming from running the ball. As Logan Renken ran just 12 times but covered 158 yards. Jaren Garrison took the ball 11 times for another 89 yards.

           

            On defense, the Redskins gave up 291 yards, including 229 on the ground, but it took Rural Vista 66 plays to do it.

 

            Eleven Little River players recorded at least a single tackle in the game led by Jhett Ewertt with 11 tackles. Kyler Bergkamp recorded eight while Jaren Garrison, Ruxton Birdsong, and Kal-El Robinson each had seven.

 

            Now 2-0 for the season, Little River will go back on the  road on Friday, September 20 for a game in Lost Springs against Centre. The Cougars will come into the game at 0-2, having given up 54 points or more in each of their first two games after losing 56-8 to Goessel on Friday.
