REDSKINS MAKE SUBSTATE FINALS

LITTLE RIVER – One game to go for the Little River boys to make a trip to the state Class 1A Division I state tournament as they defeated Colony Crest 48-39, in their sub-state semi-finals on Monday. Colony Crest was the number two seed.

Now 14-6 for the season, the Redskins are the sixth seed in sub-state and will tangle with Oxford, the number two seed, on Saturday for a trip to the state tournament. Oxford is ranked seventh in Class 1A Division I and has a season record of 16-3 after beathing Sedan, 55-37, in their semifinal game on Monday.

Against Colony Crest, the Redskins trailed by a pair, 12-14, at the end of the first quarter before outscoring the Lancers 15-5 in the second quarter to take an eight point, 27-19, advantage into the halftime break. After pushing the lead to 14, 40-26, by the end of the third quarter, Little River held off a comeback attempt by Colony Crest to gain the final nine-point, 48-39 win.

Jaxson Konen, Logan Renken, and Jaren Garrison did much of the offensive work by leading the team in scoring with 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Konen directed much of the offense by dishing out five assists while Garrison topped the work on the boards by pulling down seven rebounds.
