LITTLE RIVER BOYS OPEN 2024/25 SEASON WITH 2-GAME SPLIT

            GOESSEL – Opening their 2024/25 season in the Goessel Bluebird Classic, the Little River boys’ basketball team split a pair of games on Monday and Tuesday, losing 55-59 to Canton/Galva before earning a 58-22 win over host Goessel.

            On Monday, the Redskins held a seven-point, 16-9 lead at the end of the first quartet and hung on for a 28-22 advantage going into the halftime break.

            Coming out of the break, the Eagles pulled to within three of Little River at 47-44 by the end of the third quarter before the Redskins were outscored 8-15 in the final quarter to be handed the final four-point loss.

Jaxon Konen led Little River in scoring with 19 points with Blayne  Baldetti also reaching double digits with 10. Baldetti, Logan Renken, and Jaren Garrison each grabbed five rebounds while Renken made five steals.

The hurt on the Redskins came from the Eagles Ethan Brozek, as he scored 22 points that included five three-pointers. Canton/Galva connected on nine-of-eighteen three’s during the contest.

In the tangle  with Classic host Goessel on Tuesday, the Redskins won 58-22 as they hit 16-of-29 on two-pointers and grabbed 13 steals.

            Logan Renken, Blayne Baldetti, and Jaxson Konen each scored 11 points while Jaren Garrison just missed double digits with nine.

Baldetti and Garrison led the team in the paint with seven and five rebounds, respectively.
